……AND THE NIGHTMARES  KEEP COMING…
     BY george

  FROM CAYUGA COUNTY:

MAN FEELS THAT NEW YORK’S ECONOMIC SYSTEM IS COMING AFTER HIS PROPERTY.

TOTAL INCOME:  $ 50,210.00,

TOTAL TAX          $ 21,691.00

THAT IS OVER 40%; (NOT MUCH LEFT THERE ITO LIVE ON………….)

     FROM KINGSTON:

DISABLED LADY WITH PhD  PAYS MORE THAN HALF HER INCOME IN PROPERTY TAX.  SHE FEELS THAT THE STATE NEEDS  A :PROPERTY TAX PAYERS “BILL OF RIGHTS”

WANTS TAX ASSESSORS TO BE REQUIRED TO BACK UP THEIR ASSESSMENTS AND REASSMENTS AND BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR  FAIRNESS IN THIS TOTALLY UNFAIR SYSTEM.  IT TAKES 6 MONTHS AND MUCH RESEARCH TO GRIEVE YOUR ASSESSMENT, YOU ARE THEN ALOTTED 5 MINUTES TO PRESENT YOUR CASE.  IF THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE FOR GRIEVANCE DAY, THE REST OF THESE HOPEFUL FAMILIES ARE OUT OF LUCK,

THERE SEEMS TO BE NO CREDENTIALS FOR HEARING OFFICERS, IF THERE IS, IT IS NOT AVAILAVLE TO THE PUBLIC WHO PAY THEIR SALARIES.

WHAT’S GOING ON IN NEW YORK STATE????

     FROM ONCHIOTA

TED G., RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME, FEELS HE MAY HAVE TO GIVE UP HIS HOME.

     FROM FRANKLIN COUNTY

69 YEAR OLD JOSEPH A. IS PAYING 24% OF HIS HOUSEHOLD INCOME IN PROPERTY TAXES.

     FROM SAUGERTIES, ULSTER COUNTY:

FAMILY COMES TO AMERICA IN THE YEAR 1710.  SETTLES ON 90  ACRES OF FARM, THAT THEY ACTIVELY FARM TODAY,   IT’S OWNED BY BILL AND ELLIE AND FAMILY,  DESCENDENTS OF THE ORIGINAL HOMESTEADERS.   THIS FARM HAS ATTAINED BOTH NATIONAL AND STATE HISTORICAL LANDMARK STATUS.

REAL ESTATE VALUES HAVE GONE DOWN, BUT NOT THEIR HOMESTEAD, (BUILT IN 1825) ON LESS THAN 1 ACRE OF THE FARM.  THESE TRUE NEW YORK NATIVES FEEL THAT ONE MORE REASSESSMENT AND THEIR FAMILY’S  ACHIEVEMENTS  (NOW IN THE 4TH CENTURY)  WILL HAVE TO BE SOLD……………..

WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO THAT ????

     FROM TUPPER LAKE:

JIM M. SAYS THAT “NEW YORKERS ARE DYING A SLOW TAX DEATH”.  HE OWNS A SUMMER CAMP, LIVES HERE 6 MONTHS BUT HIS TAXES ARE MORE THAN IT COST HIM TO RENT IN THE SOUTH FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.  FEELS THAT ASTRONOMICAL TAX INCREASES WILL FORCE HIM TO SELL, (AGAINST HIS WISHES)  AND MOVE TO SOMEPLACE WHERE HE CAN AFFORD TO LIVE.

HE BEGS FOR MEANINGFUL TAX RELIEF.
