Welcome to the discussion Mike. I hear what you’re saying. The prop. tax crisis is overwhelming and we need to open it all up and look at what’s happening. For starters school administrators-like superintendents- get high pay and are “management”. They shouldn’t be getting the huge pensions they are getting. Also there are way too many of them outside of NYC. Legislators also have cushy pensions after a short time. There are certainly reforms that could be made and let’s start with the big boys.
Unfortunately I have to “filter” or I’ll be overwhelmed by the problems surrounding the property tax and never get to make dinner for my husband …that means work to get some IMMEDIATE relief like the circuit breaker and making the state pay for foundation aid. That would be Liz krueger’s bill…Right now that’s all I can handle and it’s the place where we can get results fast. I know a lot of people in real trouble trying to keep their homes. However We need people like you on this issue for the long haul. There’s so much to be done on tax reform-assessment craziness for example. NYC property taxes are a mess also. Stay involved!
